Last War T11 Troops Complete Unlock Guide & Armament Institute Strategy

Today marks the day that another tier gets added to the troop levels: T11 Troops are here! The unlock mechanism for these troops is similar to what you know from the Drone, with levels requiring Armament Materials and every 5th level requiring Armament Cores in addition. Before you can deploy these troops, you first need to complete the research of all four Armaments in the new Armament Institute, in addition to having a level 35 Barrack to train them in.

What Are T11 Troops and its Variants

T11 Troop Types
T11 Troop Types

These troops consist of two types: Armored Trooper and Assault Raider that you can pick for your battles. Every 3 days you are able to swap between the two depending on your needs. Each type has their own benefits:

Armored Trooper - defense focused

  • Special ability: Battle Protection
  • Effect: Reduces the severe wound rate of your units by 5%
  • Best for: defending against stronger opponents, battles where you are the defender (e.g. season wars)

Assault Raider - attack focused

  • Special Ability: Iron Will
  • Effect: Reduces penalty for not being at full capacity by 10%
  • Best for: attacker events (e.g. blood night hunter during S4), battles where you are the attacker (e.g. season wars)

In addition to these special skills, they will also have higher overall stats compared to T10:

  • Power: 1647 -> 1840
  • Morale: 750 -> 800
  • Squad Load Capacity: 2200 -> 2400
  • Unit HP: 5662.41 -> 6071.53
  • Unit Attack: 45.14 -> 51.7
  • Unit Defense: 8.96 -> 9.06

Overall the T11 stats give you a 5-10% boost over the T10 troops.

How to Unlock T11 Troops

The most important question of them all, how to unlock T11 troops in Last War: Survival? Well, it requires multiple steps and challenges to get there. In short:

  • Step 1: Prerequisits
    • Reach Season 4 off-season (this triggers T11 content in your game)
    • Achieve HQ level 27 or higher
    • Optional: Upgrade at least one Barrack to level 35 (you'll need this for training T11 after unlocking them)

Cpt Hedge's Tip:

Tip: Start upgrading your [Barrack](/buildings/barracks) to level 35 early - this takes significant time and resources.
  • Step 2: Build the Armament Institute

    • Construct the Armament Institute, it's only a single level building and cannot be upgraded
    • This building is your T11 hub and contains the T11-related research you need to complete
  • Step 3: Complete Armament Research

    • Complete all 4 Armament Researches by getting them to 100% (this will be your main bottleneck)
    • Once completed, you can traing T11 troops in your level 35 Barracks
    • After unlocking the T11 troops you can further increase the Armament Researches with additional stars.

Timeline Expectation: Most players need several weeks to months to complete all requirements, with the research step taking the longest.

New Resources: Armament Materials & Armament Core

T11 Troop Types
The replacement of the Honorary Campaign: Restricted Area.

The 4 Armament Researches required for T11 troops introduce two new resources: Armament Materials and Armament Core. At first you can get these from completing levels in the Restricted Area Training (it replaces the existing Honorary Campaign). The Restricted Area Training consists of two elements:

  • There is a passive element that will produce loot for you over time. This is the "Training Reward" and it acts similar to the Armored Truck's passive loot where you can check back over time to retrieve goodies. There are different probabilities for loot, with the main resources being Armament Materials and Campaign Medals, but if you're lucky you can also get Armament Core and Campaign Chests from it.
  • There are also boss challenges which require you to kill a boss to get past a certain campaign. There are 50 campaigns per Restricted Area level, for a total of 10 levels. Each boss will provide you with Armament Materials and Armament Cores upon winning the battle. Battles are based on your Troop Power and if that value is higher than the one from the boss you will be able to beat it.

In addition you can purchase packs (part of the Weekly Deal tab) to get additional Armament materials and cores. The initial pack that becomes available is the "Armament Research Special" which gives you 100 Armament Cores and 180k Armament Material. This pack is available as 4 purchases.

How to Increase Troop Power

Cpt Hedge's Tip:

Although the game mentions "all squads" in its description, the troop power in the Restricted Area only uses your main squad. You can find your troop power by clicking on the squad in front of your base and tapping the power value at the top for a breakdown

Troop power is the metric to progress through the Restricted Areas. You will want to increase this as much as you can to progress further. It's based on the march size of your largest squad and it automatically uses the highest amount of troops that are available (typically T10). You can further increase your Troop Power as follows:

  1. Increase March Size
    • Research: invest in march size reseach such as the Mastery Tree
    • Buildings: upgrade your tank, air or missile center (depending on your main squad type)
    • Decorations: certain decorations like the God of Judgement increase march size
    • Survivors: if you buy the survivor "Shirley" through the VIP packs, she will provide a boost to your march size as well
  2. Boost Unit Power
    • Research: focus on unit related research
    • Troop Upgrade: make sure you reach T10 troops if you haven't yet
  3. Armament Institute
    • Each research level you complete in the Armament Institute will provide a small boost to your troop power

Stay tuned for additional ways to increase the troop power, as the T11 troops are still very new and we're still figuring out more ways!

Armament Research Star Levels

T11 Troop Types
Additional research provides stars with extra benefits

In addition to unlocking the Armament Research in itself, you can also upgrade them to additional stars. Each time all Armaments reach the same star level, it adds additional benefits to the T11 troops, which are as follows:

  • All Armaments to 1 star: Armored Troopers & Assault Raiders: Ignore part of enemy unit's "Reduce Damage Taken" effect
  • All Armaments to 2 stars: Armored Troopers: When a battle fails, counterattacks the enemy based on the number of units lost. Assault Raider: when a battle succeeds, restore some lightly wounded units.
  • All Armaments to 3 stars: Armored Troopers & Assault Raiders: Increase lethality rate when attacking
  • All Armaments to 4 stars: Armored Troopers: Reduce severe wound rate in battle. Assault Raider: Reduce the squad attribute penalty for not being at full capacity.

As you can see, upgrading the star levels bring additional benefits to the T11 troops with a focus on defense for the Armored Troopers and a focus on attack for the Assault Raiders.
